Our 2018 Giro d’Italia VIP tour will take you from Treviso to Rome as we follow stages 13 to 21 of the 101st edition of the Giro d’Italia through the Dolomites, Lake district and the Alps finishing with the historic finale in Rome.

This epic VIP tour will have you summiting Monte Zoncolan, enjoying lunch on Lake Como and Gondola riding in Venice!

Benvenuto!

Our Mummu staff will meet you at Treviso Central station today as we begin our VIP Giro d’Italia tour. After a meet and greet we will transfer you to our accommodation where you can freshen up while our mechanics build and set up your bikes.

Once settled in, Australian cycling legend and five time Giro rider, Stuart O’Grady, will take you on a short ride to watch the exciting sprint stage finish into Nervesa Della Battaglia.

Following the stage finish we will ride back to the hotel as a group where will get to know one another over dinner and enjoy some of Stuey’s stories from his time at the Giro.

Today’s ride: 40km easy ride to Stage 13 finish

Day 2

Monte Zoncolan

This morning after a big breakfast we will set off by van to the Province of Udine where under the guidance of Stuart O’Grady we will climb the epic Monte Zoncolan, just hours before the pros!

After descending into Tolmezzo we will watch the peloton pass as they approach Avaglio before driving back to our hotel to (hopefully) watch the finish on TV.

This evening you are free to enjoy dinner in town at your leisure.

Today’s ride: Challenging 80km ride including Monte Zoncolan (10.1 kilometres, average of 11.9% with an elevation gain of 1,210 metres)

Day 3

A day in Venice

This morning enjoy a (much needed) sleep in and late breakfast. We will then set off mid morning on our bikes and ride mainly downhill south towards the beautiful coastline of Mestre before changing and transferring to the majestic city of Venice.

We will enjoy a group lunch in Venice before you are free to explore city and enjoy dinner at your leisure, be sure to enjoy a gondola ride through this incredible city.

Day 4

Team Meet and Greet

Today while the pros enjoy a much needed rest day, we will tackle the iconic Monte Grappa, the final major summit of the 100th Giro d’Italia. Of course you will once again be escorted by Stuart O’Grady and our support vans will also follow to ensure we all safely summit in our own time.

For those wanting some extra kilometres you will also have the option of riding the additional 70kms towards Trentino.

This afternoon we will check into our new hotel then depart for an exclusive team meet and greet where Stuey will introduce you to some of his former team mates and director sportifs.

Following the meet and greet we will all enjoy a group dinner.

Today’s ride: 60km including Monte Grappa (29km gradual climb with 1,540m ascent at a 6% average)

Day 5

Trento ITT

May 22, 2018 / Difficulty

This morning after breakfast at our hotel we will set off for an early morning ride around Trento, that will include the 2013 UWCT Amateur Road World Championship course and Monte Bondone, where Charly Gaul wrote history during the Giro d’Italia of 1956.

Following our ride we will set up roadside on the ITT course and enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch as we take in the Individual Time Trial.

Individual time trial is fit for against-the-clock racers. The course is almost completely flat with long straight stretches connected by wide bends where the speed doesn’t drop. The final section in the city is slightly more complex, but still very fast-running. Expected average speed around 50 km/h, and two split time recordings along the course.

This evenings dinner will be at your leisure.

Today’s ride: 60km ride including Monte Bondone (19.4km at 7.5%)

Lake Iseo Stage Finish

This morning, after breakfast we will check out and drive to Brescia. From Brescia we will ride as a group to the stage finish on Lake Iseo where we will watch the final 20km across the entire Franciacorta area.

Today’s stage marks the last opportunity for sprinters before the final showcase stage in Rome. Who will be in the points Jersey as the 2018 Giro draws to a close?

Today’s ride: 45km undulating into Lago d’Iseo

Orica-Scott Service Course Visit

The next two days are big mountain stages so we’ll take it easy on our legs and enjoy some time on the breathtakingly beautiful Lake Como.

After a late breakfast we will set off for Lake Como where will will enjoy lunch as a group.

Following lunch we will make the short drive to Varese for an exclusive tour of the Mitchelton-Scott European Service Course. Stuey will give us a guided tour and introduce you to the people behind the scenes.

This evening’s dinner will be at your leisure.

Venaria Reale Stage Start

May 25, 2018 / Difficulty

This morning after breakfast we will head out on our bikes for an easy morning spin.

Following check out we will drive to the stage start in Venaria Reale where we will experience the action at the Stage 19 departure village! Make sure you ask Stuey to introduce you to your favourite rider.

Today marks the first queen stage across the Western Alps featuring 4 categorised climbs, all of them being long and testing ascents. Past the Colle del Lys, the stage features the Colle delle Finestre (Cima Coppi) with a 9-km dirt road.

This afternoon we will take an easy ride around Turin before taking in the excitement of the stage finish on TV.

This evening we will discuss the days racing over a group dinner.

Western Alps

After a couple of easy days on the bike, today is our turn to tackle the snow capped Italian Alps. We will set off early this morning to ride the cols just hours before the pros, under the expert guidance of Stuart O’Grady, of course!

Upon summiting, the Mummu staff will have a roadside gourmet picnic lunch waiting where we will enjoy the afternoon watching the pros fight it out on this epic stage.

We will then descend and meet the Mummu vans, which will transfer us to our hotel before our early morning transfer to Rome.

Today’s ride: challenging 70km including 1,600m ascent

Viva Roma!

Today’s finale is in an 11.8-km circuit to be raced 10 times across the centre of Rome. The route runs along most of the roads of the 2009 TT, such as the Fori Imperiali, via Nazionale, via Sistina, Piazza del Popolo, via del Corso, via del Circo Massimo, across the Terme di Caracalla and next to the Colosseum before the finish (possibly a sprint) at the Fori Imperiali.

Our early morning, high speed train transfer will have us in Rome in time for brunch!

We will watch the stage together as a group before enjoying one final last group dinner.
