Amy's Gran Fondo 'Race Day'!
Today, it’s RACE DAY. You’ve done the hard work, so now’s the time to relax and enjoy the ride!
Following a decent breakfast, it’ll be time to kit up and get ready to roll. Our guide will lead you on a short ride from the hotel down to the start line.
Please note that the race will have adequate support and feed zones along the route and roads will be completely closed for the event’s entirety.
The Mummu support team will also never be far out of sight, providing mechanical support, ride nutrition and drinks at the start, mid-course and finish line.
The race get underway from 7.30am, with separate time slots following for different categories. Once on the road, prepare yourself for 130km of truly exquisite riding, paired with a healthy dose of climbing!
It won’t be an easy roll out as off the line, you’ll almost immediately start gradually climbing as you venture inland North West and tackle the first of two KOM’s along the route, Benwerrin Peak. Summiting at 11km in, you’ll enjoy the lengthy descent that follows. Be sure to take-in the incredible scenery as you make your way through the Otways, sheltered by rainforest and surrounded by spectacular countryside.
Soon enough, you will gradually start climbing again until you reach KOM 2, Mount Sabine Peak at 75km. From there, the hard work is done. Enjoy a much deserved descent, before approaching the beautiful Great Ocean Road. Sea breeze, insane coastal views and mostly flat terrain for the final 45km will have you crossing the finish line back in Lorne on Cloud 9!
Our support team will be waiting with a deserved cold beverage at the Mummu marquee, where you can kick back, toast to your efforts and share your days stories with fellow guests.
Once you’ve had some time to refuel and unwind, we’ll return to the hotel.
Relax and freshen up, before meeting our mechanic who will pack down/assist you with bike dismantle.
The evening will then be at your leisure to enjoy the post event festivities within the humming town of Lorne, packed with a selection of great restaurants and bars.
