Dusseldorf Grand Depart – Spectator

This morning your Mummu Cycling team will welcome you at Dusseldorf airport and transfer you to our hotel for the next three nights. We will give you plenty of time to relax and settle in before we head to the city center for the afternoon.

In the afternoon/early evening we will take a short transfer into the heart of Dusseldorf to view the official team presentation. This will be our first chance to see the riders and all the excitement that surrounds Le Tour.

We will stay in the city for dinner where we will have dinner as a group to discuss the exciting week ahead!

With the tour not starting until tomorrow, we will take the opportunity to head to the beautiful Rhine Valley, arguably the most famous wine region in Germany.

We will depart after breakfast and make our way south, deep into the Rhine Valley region. The views along the Rhine river are stunning as we arrive at a local vineyard and enjoy a tour of the winery before lunch and wine tastings

We will transfer via van back towards our hotel in the evening, stopping in the regions cultural city of Cologne. Enjoy the evening at your leisure to explore the beautiful Gothic architecture or stop at one of Germany’s famous brew houses.

Stage one of this years Tour de France begins on the streets of Dusseldorf, where the riders will race against the clock around a city circuit in the opening individual time trial. Local World Champion, Tony Martin will be a favorite to take the first yellow jersey of this years race.

We will ensure you are right in the thick of the action as we will take you into the city centre and to the VIP departure village where you can see all the action of the riders warming up, starting and finishing their rides! We will be in Dusseldorf all afternoon soaking up the atmosphere of this years first stage!!

After breakfast this morning we will check out of our hotel and transfer via van south towards our next destination in the Ardennes region of Belgium. We will stop enroute to the finish line for some lunch, a perfect opportunity to try a famous Belgian waffle or perhaps some frites.

On arrival to Liege, the finish stage of today’s stage, we will escort you to the VIP hospitality area where afternoon drinks and nibbles await in a prime location right near the finish line to see the end of today stage which is expected to end in a bunch sprint!

After the days stage, we will get in the van for a short transfer to our accommodation, check in and enjoy dinner as a group.

An early breakfast awaits us this morning as we look to again see the tour pass through the same region our hotel is in.

We will stop on the side of the road for a picnic lunch as we wait for the Tour de France caravan and peloton to pass, an exciting spectacle as we will see how the locals embrace le Tour! Once passed we will continue back towards the hotel where we can relax and view the final km of today’s stage on television.

This evening we will head to a nearby village where you can enjoy dinner at your leisure.

We will enjoy a sleep in this morning as we let the tour continue south into France. Today we will take the opportunity to visit the Ardennes region, made famous by such classic races including Liege Bastogne Liege and La Fleche Wallone.

We will enjoy some downtime and lunch in the beautiful town of Spa, made famous for its hot springs. You will have plenty of time to explore the town before we make our way back to the hotel.

We will enjoy one final meal as a group this evening, as we reflect on an exciting week!

This morning marks the end of our trip. After breakfast we will check out of our hotel and Mummu staff will transfer you to Brussels airport, only a one and a half hour journey before we say our final goodbyes.
