Welcome to Adelaide!!

Welcome to Adelaide and the start of 8 days of Down Under madness…bring on the fun and games!

On arrival into Adelaide Airport, you will be greeted by the Mummu Cycling team and transferred to our 5-star accommodation in the Adelaide CBD. Take some time to check in and settle. Our team will then assist with setting up bikes to prepare for an optional, short afternoon ‘warm-up’ ride to get the legs into gear for some big days to come!

Concluding our spin, freshen up before we regroup in the hotel foyer to walk a few blocks into the centre for our first taste of race action.

This evening is the annual Schwalbe Classic: the traditional grand start to the Santos Tour Down Under and almost-always a real spectacle to watch, as the world’s best professional cyclists take to the streets of Adelaide, chasing that much desired early season victory! This year, the Classic returns to the heart of Adelaide’s city centre for the first time in years, where riders will tackle a challenging 1.7km circuit 30 times to really get the legs revved up and raring to go ahead of a huge week ahead.

Following some thrilling race viewing, take some time to enjoy the festivities of the City of Adelaide Tour Village; where drinks, food, stalls and music will combine to create lively evening atmosphere. We recommend making your way back to the hotel via the vibrant, popular Rundle Street where great dining and beverage options will no doubt be beckoning.

Welcome to Adelaide and the start of 8 days of Down Under madness…bring on the action!

On arrival into Adelaide Airport, you will be greeted by the Mummu Cycling team and transferred to our 5-star accommodation in the Adelaide CBD. Take some time to check in and settle, before enjoying the afternoon to explore Adelaide’s buzzing city centre and/or the centrally located, ‘City of Adelaide Tour Village’- excitement no doubt at an all-time high, with the games about to begin!

McLaren Vale Winery Tour and Lunch

To make the most of the Santos Tour Down Under ‘day off’ ahead of the official tour start tomorrow, we’re setting out to prove that rest days really are the best days!

To kick start the day with a bang, riders will set out on bikes to meet up with a pro team on their ‘recovery spin’. Get your cameras ready, as we catch the guys in pre-race ‘relax’ mode, enjoying their last bit of calm before the games well and truly begin!

Concluding our 55km ride, we will meet up with our spectating contingent for an afternoon at McLaren Vale’s award winning, d’Arenberg Cube.

The incredibly unique, d’Arenberg offers a luxury food and wine experience, like no other. We’ll enjoy a tour of the abstract five story cube, before enjoying some wine tasting from their extensive, highly reputable list of McLaren Vale wines, completed perfectly by indulging in a delicious gourmet lunch.

On arrival back to the CBD, take some time to relax, before using the evening to explore Adelaide’s humming restaurants and bars on a warm South Australian summer night.

McLaren Vale Winery Tour and Lunch

To make the most of the Santos Tour Down Under ‘day off’ ahead of the official tour start tomorrow, we’re setting out to prove that rest days really are the best days!

To kick start the day with a bang, we will set off to the City of Adelaide Tour Village to meet up with a pro team ahead of their ‘recovery spin’. Get your cameras ready, as we catch the guys in pre-race ‘relax’ mode, enjoying their last bit of calm before the games well and truly begin!

Now hopefully buzzing, and starry-eyed, you can take the morning to explore the city’s renowned boutiques or perhaps the famous Adelaide Central Market. We will then transfer as a group to meet up with our riding contingent to enjoy an afternoon at McLaren Vale’s award winning, d’Arenberg Cube.

The incredibly unique, d’Arenberg offers a luxury food and wine experience, like no other. We’ll enjoy a tour of the abstract five story cube, before enjoying some wine tasting from their extensive, highly reputable list of McLaren Vale wines, completed perfectly by indulging in a delicious gourmet lunch.

Barossa Stage 1 Viewing

Stage 1: Tanunda-Tanunda

Following a leisurely breakfast, we will depart on our bikes on route to today’s Stage 1 circuit, located in the stunningly beautiful, vineyard-dotted, Barossa Valley. The undulating, scenic ride will include parts of today’s challenging course, providing a nice opportunity to get a taste of what’s to come for the pros!

We will then make a pitstop at our roadside viewing location for today, where we’ll enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch and see the race blitz by, not once, but five times, as they tackle the punchy 30km circuit consecutively. All guns no doubt ablaze, with Stage 1 honours, and the first leaders jersey of the Santos Tour Down Under, 2020 up for grabs!

Concluding an expected, fast and furious stage, we will return to the hotel, where this evening will be yours to enjoy Tour festivities, or kick back and chill.

Barossa Stage 1 Viewing

Stirling Stage Finish and Lunch

Stage Two: Woodside-Stirling

Following all the excitement of yesterday’s opening stage action, motivation will no doubt be high! To celebrate, we’ll be testing the legs out through the daring Adelaide hills!

Today, we’ll have several ride options of varying difficulties and distances, both in pursuit of Stirling, where today’s Stage 2 finish lies. Choose between a 50km or 90km ride, including Adelaide’s highest peak – the ever-popular, Mount Lofty.

Following some solid km’s clicked and vertical metres climbed,  it’ll be time to replenish those efforts with a well earned beverage and a bite at the perfectly located Stirling Hotel, perched directly above the finish line, with premium viewing of the peloton. Here, we have tables booked with food and drinks to ensure a top afternoon, lapping up the best of the TDU!

Concluding an expected thrilling Stage 2 finale, we will transfer via vehicles (or by bike, if preferred) back to the hotel, to freshen up and enjoy a deserved cold one to cheers to an recollect the days adventures!

Unley Stage Start

Stage Three: Unley – Paracombe

Today we will head out on an early ride to beat the heat, through the scenic Adelaide Hills before arriving back down at the Stage Start in Unley, only a few blocks from our hotel. Today, you can take the option of a shorter or longer loop that will include Mount Lofty and the challenging, Norton Summit.

At the start, you will have the opportunity to mingle with the pros as they tentatively prepare for go-time! From there, it’ll be time to wish them well, before we see them roll out in style to begin today’s Stage 3.

The afternoon will be at your leisure…perhaps an afternoon at the beach, transfers to some incredible winery cellar doors for tastings, or simply relaxing in Adelaide, where you can watch the stage action from big screen entertainment and enjoy the buzzing atmosphere while you’re at it. The choice is yours!

Today we will transfer to the Stage Start in Unley, only a few blocks from our hotel!

Challenge Tour

Stage Four: Norwood – Murray Bridge

Today is the Santos Tour Down Under’s fourth stage and will host both the UCI World Tour peloton, as well as thousands of amateur cyclists alike for the ever-popular, 2020 Challenge Tour.

Here is the perfect opportunity to put yourself to the test along the Stage Four race route, just hours ahead of the race itself. The stage will travel over challenging, undulating terrain from Norwood to Murray Bridge, through the heart of the Adelaide Hills. *Varying ‘Challenge Tour’ distances will be available to select on entry, depending on personal preference and ability.

We have your day covered with transfers to and from the finish line, so all you need to worry about is enjoying the closed roads of Adelaide’s stunning surrounds.

Concluding a big effort, you’ll be able to kick back and await the pro’s at the Stage finish, to show us how it’s done at speed, as they battle it out in full force for Stage honours. Bring it on!

On completion of the Stage, we will regroup and transfer back to the hotel where this evening will be at your leisure to explore, or rest-up following a huge day out.

Challenge Tour

Stage Four: Norwood – Murray Bridge

Today, you will be in for a treat, setting out to explore the historical town of Hahndorf. As Australia’s oldest German settlement, the small town is a must-visit and is not only favoured for its historic importance, but its charm and culture to pair. To top things off, we will then enjoy a delicious gourmet winery lunch at The Lane Vineyard; stylish, modern and offering incredible views, you’ll be in for a very memorable dining experience!

Following lunch, we will transfer to the Stage 4 finish to catch all the finish-line excitement and meet up with our riding contingent along the way. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to see the pros battle it out LIVE, in full force as they fight for Stage Four honours!

In the afternoon, we will transfer back to the hotel, where the evening will be at your leisure to explore or chill out following a big day Down Under.

Concluding some stage action, we will transfer/ride back to the hotel. This evening will be at your leisure to chill, or enjoy the buzzing city centre of Adelaide and its fun, festive atmosphere. All-on to celebrate the fabulous Tour Down Under!

Willunga Hill Finale

Stage Six:

In a thrilling twist and for the second time ever, the Santos Tour Down Under will conclude on top of the iconic Willunga Hill. Let us assure you – this is a stage not to be missed!

Following breakfast, our riding guests will join the pilgrimage from the city to Willunga to tackle the testing climb ourselves, before we take our place in private hospitality.

On arrival to Penny’s Hill Cellars, we will settle in for a delicious three-course lunch, paired with outstanding South Australian wines. Located at the base of the climb, we’ll be in the prime viewing location on course and will see the peloton pass no less than five times, as they fight it out spectacularly for final stage and tour honours.

Every last inkling of energy will be zapped, as riders give their all to deliver leaders to the base of the climb for the last time, where all hell will certainly break loose as they go head-to-head in an inevitable dramatic final showdown up its relentlessly tough slopes!

Our private hospitality will include live race viewing, big screen entertainment, air conditioning and a very festive atmosphere to witness it all and celebrate the best of the Queen Stage!

Concluding the finish, Mummu Cycling will transfer you back to the airport for your flight home. Thank you for joining us on tour for a huge 8 days, enjoying the best of the fantastic Santos Tour Down Under.
