Welcome to Belgium! This morning the Mummu Cycling team will welcome you at Brussels airport, before transferring you to our accommodation at the Marriott Hotel in the heart of Ghent. Once checked in and settled in the hotel. We will ensure your bikes are set up – if time permits we will head for a short ride to stretch the legs.
The Mummu Cycling team will host a welcome dinner this evening for you to get to know your new-found friends and to talk tactics (or survival) for tomorrows ride!
Ronde van Vlaanderen Cyclo (Flanders Sportive)
After and early breakfast we will transfer you to Oundenarde, the start and finish location for the Ronde Van Vlaanderen Cyclo sportive ride. More than 10,000 people congregate on Oundenarde each year to take part in this event – creating a festival like atmosphere in town and almost professional like support throughout the race. Today is a unique opportunity to ride the similar course to the pros, taking on iconic cobbled climbs including the Koppenberg, Oude Kwaremont and the Paterberg.
Once you have completed your chosen ride for the day we will spend the afternoon in Oundenarde. One of our stops in the afternoon will be the Flanders museum, the perfect place to relive the 103 year history of the race. Test your knowledge, learn all the facts of the iconic bergs or past winners of the race, perhaps if you still have the legs test yourself on the virtual bike simulator.
We will then transfer you back to Ghent, with the evening at your leisure.
Today’s ride: Ronde Van Vlaanderen Cyclo – 129km/71km
Tour of Flanders (Ronde Van Vlaanderen)
A day the entire country of Belgium stops for has arrived! The 103rd edition of the Tour of Flanders begins today from Antwerp and makes its way through the Flanders region and across some of the most iconic bergs in cycling. Today we will be joined by 2007 Paris Roubaix winner Stuart O’Grady who will be with us as we join thousands of die hard cycling fans on the iconic Oude Kwaremont to see the race pass three times. In 2017 the first climb up the Kwaremont was where eventual winner Phillipe Gilbert made his winning attack… who knows what the 2018 edition will bring!
At the conclusion of the race we will transfer you back to the hotel for dinner at your leisure. A great opportunity to stroll through historical old town Ghent and marvel in the beautiful architecture the city has to offer.
Today marks the end of our Flanders Experience.
Following breakfast, it is time to check out of our hotel. Mummu staff will have a transfer vehicle waiting for you to transport you back to Brussels airport. For those continuing on to other destinations it is time to say bon voyage.
We hope you have enjoyed your Mummu Cycling tour and look forward to seeing you again soon
