The cobbled Classics are famous for their difficult cobbled sectors, while the Ardennes Classics are well-known for    their picturesque hilly courses.

Welcome

March 31, 2017

This morning the Mummu Cycling team will welcome you at Brussels airport, before transferring you to our accommodation in Ghent. Once checked in and settled in the hotel. We will ensure your bikes are set up – if time permits we will head for a short ride to stretch the legs.

We will head to dinner as a group this evening, hosted by Stuart O’Grady. A great opportunity for us all to get to know one another and brief you on the exciting week ahead.

Ronde Van Vlaanderen Cyclo

April 1, 2017

After and early breakfast we will transfer you to Oundenarde, the start and finish location for the Ronde Van Vlaanderen Cyclo sportive ride. More than 10,000 people congregate each year on Oundenarde each year to take part in this event – creating a festival like atmosphere in town and almost professional like support throughout the race. Today is a unique opportunity to ride the similar course to the pros, taking on iconic cobbled climbs including the Koppenberg, Oude Kwaremont and the Paterberg.

Stuart will give you a briefing and exclusive tips on how to tackle the cobbled bergs you’re about to take on!

Once you have completed your chosen ride for the day we will spend the afternoon in Oundenarde. One of our stops in the afternoon will be the Flanders museum, the perfect place to relive the 101 year history of the race. Test your knowledge, learn all the facts of the iconic bergs or past winners of the race, perhaps if you still have the legs test yourself on the virtual bike simulator.

We will then transfer you back to Ghent, with the evening at your leisure.

Ronde Van Vlaanderen

April 2, 2017

A day the entire country of Belgium stops for has arrived! The 101st edition of the Tour of Flanders begins today from Antwerp and makes its way through the Flanders region and across the famous bergs of the region. After breakfast this morning we will transfer you across to the course for all the action as you watch Peter Sagan defend his title across the famous cobbles.

At the conclusion of the race we will transfer you back to the hotel for dinner at your leisure. A great opportunity to stroll through historical old town Ghent and marvel in the beautiful architecture the city has to offer.

Flanders

April 3, 2017

A later start this morning as we recover from an exciting few days. After breakfast this morning we will get on our bikes and explore the roads of Flanders past.

Following our ride this morning you have the option in the afternoon to join us as we explore some of the mirco breweries in Ghent, Belgium Traditions, and the passing on of trade secrets from father to son, have created a unique Belgian beer culture, and over 150 breweries in the country

Mur de Huy

April 4, 2017

After breakfast this morning we will check out of our hotel in Ghent and begin our transfer to Liege. Before getting there we will have our first opportunity to ride the roads of the Ardennes Classics. We will cover the final stages of the 2016 Fleche Wallone course, including the famous Mur de Huy.

The Mur de Huy (in English translate to the wall of Huy) has become famous as the finishing stretch of the Fleche Wallone course, the pros tackle it 3 times, the final ascent in an uphill sprint for victory. It’s only 1.2km in length but it climbs over 120m in elevation. If you have time to sight see on your way up be sure to check out the seven chapels along the way!

In the afternoon we will check into our hotel and head to dinner as a group

La Doyenne

April 5, 2017

Our second day exploring the famous roads of the Ardennes classics. This morning it is ‘La Doyenne’ or Liege Bastogne Liege, one of the first of the five cycling monuments, first ran all the way back in 1892! For classics fans this race is almost as big as the Tour de France – a must on the bucket list of classics rides!

We will set off from our hotel after breakfast, making our way towards Spa – the original start and finish location of the race and yes it is where the term for medicinal baths comes from. This Belgium town is one of the countries major tourist cities, made famous for the mineral springs, home of the first casino and it also hosts the Belgian Formula One Grand Prix each year.

From Spa we will intersect the 2016 Liege Bastogne Liege course, making our way across the final challenging climbs including the Cote de la Roche and the Cote de la Redoute. The later another of the short sharp 10% climbs these classics are famous for.

Today’s ride: 80-90km rolling hills on the 2016 Liege Bastogne Liege course – includes some tough short climbs.

Maastricht – Amstel Gold

April 6, 2017

Today is our final day in the Ardennes region. We will be making our way across the border into the Netherlands to tackle the Amstel Gold course.

After breakfast this morning we will transfer by van to Maastricht, the starting town on the Amstel Gold race since 1998, where we will begin our ride for the day. We will cover many parts of last year’s Amstel Gold course, like the pros we will tackle the last 8 climbs of the race that come inside the final 45km, including the famous Cauberg climb were the race has finished a top since 2003 – it’s only 700m long but at an average of 8%, with the steepest pinch at over 20%!

We will spend the afternoon in Maastricht, a town famous for its affluent cultural centre and being the birthplace of the EU and the Euro currency.

Cobbles of Northern France

April 7, 2017

After breakfast this morning we will check out of our hotel and transfer by van to the Valenciennes region in Northern France where we will get our first taste of the cobbles of Paris Roubaix. We will test our legs on the challenging surface – taking in some of the cobbled sectors not included in tomorrow’s sportive ride.

Be sure to pick Stuart’s brain on what to expect on the cobbled roads of the French countryside as they differ greatly from those in Flanders.

We will then make our way to our accommodation in Lille for dinner as a group. Over dinner Stuart will again give you a ride briefing and tips as you prepare to tackle the Forrest of Arenberg and other cobbled sectors of the Paris Roubaix course.

Today’s ride: 20-40km – Flat, including several cobbled sections

Paris Roubaix Challenge

April 8, 2017

Today is one of the highlights of the tour!

It is your opportunity to ride the very course the pros will tackle in only 24 hours’ time. Ride the famous cobbled roads of northern France, including iconic sectors Mons-en-Pevele, Carrefour de l’Aarbe and of course the Arenberg Forest!

Following breakfast, we will transfer you by van to the start of the Paris Roubaix Challenge ride in Roubaix to start your ride. You will finish your ride in the famous Roubaix velodrome. You will have time following the sportive ride to visit the Roubaix museum and to enter the showers where each year’s winner is commemorated with a brass plaque placed on the wall.

We will then return to Lille for dinner at your leisure.

Today’s ride: 85km – Flat, Paris Roubaix Sportive ride. Includes finishing the ride in the famous Roubaix velodrome

The Hell of the North!

April 9, 2017

The day has arrived. The queen of the classics, often referred to as the hell of the north takes place today. Matthew Hayman will look to become the first rider since Tom Boonen in 2009 to win back to back Paris Roubaix titles.

Our Mummu staff will ensure you are right there in the thick of the action as the peloton make their way from Compiegne to the famous Roubaix velodrome. Stuart will be on hand to give his insights and thoughts on the race.

After seeing the 2017 Paris Roubaix champion crowned we will make our way back to our accommodation for our final night. We will head to dinner as a group to celebrate the past 10 days exciting adventures!!

Bon Voyage

April 10, 2017

Today marks the end of our Spring Classics tour.

Following breakfast, it is time to check out of our hotel. Mummu staff will have a transfer vehicle waiting for you to transport you back to Brussels airport.
