With prime accommodation locations, we will also give you the opportunity to climb famous mountains of la Vuelta’s past and present including Lagos de Covadonga and the iconic Alto de l’Angrilu.

Bienvenido

Vuelta Stage: Stage 15 – Alcala la Real / Sierra Nevada 127km

We welcome you to Spain at the Bilbao International Airport, the cultural capital of the Basque country and the largest city in the Provence of Biscay.

After a meet and greet with your Mummu Cycling team, we will transfer you to our hotel. Here we will check you into your hotel and get you settled before preparing our bikes and heading for an easy ride to stretch the legs.

We will come together as a group this evening for dinner, where we will discuss the tour iteinrary in more detail, giving you a taste of whats to come for the coming week.

Pro Team Visit

September 4, 2017

Vuelta Stage: Rest Day – Logrono

After breakfast this morning we will get on the bikes and travel through the region of La Rioja and into the town of Logrono where the teams are enjoying their final rest day of the Vuelta.

After lunch we will have the opportunity to meet with one of the teams and get an up close and personal insight into the behind the scenes workings of a professional cycling team. A great opportunity for photos so don’t forget the selfie stick!

We will transfer by van in the late afternoon back to our hotel where dinner this evening will be at your leisure.

Fuente del Chivo

September 5, 2017

Vuelta Stage: Stage 16 – Circuito Navarra / Logrono (ITT) 42km

Today we experience the first of our Spanish mountain passes. As la Vuelta tackles the final time trial to Logrono, we will make our way North towards the coastline.

Following breakfast we will check out of our hotel and make our way towards the start point of our ride for the day, where we will tackle the  Fuente del Chivo climb. a long climb of 21km averaging 5%, you will be rewarded with magnificent views of the Cantabria region on reaching the summit!

An afternoon transfer to our new hotel for the next few nights will follow as we nestle ourselves near the northern coastline of Spain. Dinner will be as a group, sampling some of the local cuisine.

Mountain Viewing

September 6, 2017

Vuelta Stage: Stage 17 – Villadiego / Los Machucos 180km

We will enjoy a slightly later start to the day, having a sleep in before breakfast. Mid morning we will start our ride from the hotel and make our way towards the final 20km of today’s la Vuelta course where we will have the chance to ride the final kms of today’s stage and make our way over the final climb of the day.

We will then find a view spot on the mountain for a picnic lunch and we wait for the riders to come pass, with today’s stage the first of several mountain stages to come we will surely see fireworks to shake up the overall contenders.

At the completion of the stage we will have the option to ride back to the hotel or transfer via van. The evening will be at your leisure.

Lagos de Cavodonga

September 7, 2017

Vuelta Stage: Stage 18 – Suances / Santo Toribio de Liebana 168km

Today is our opportunity to see the stage depart from the nearby town of Suances.

After breakfast we will check out of our hotel and transfer by van to the start village for today’s stage. We will have the opportunity to mix with the pros as they prepare and sign of for the start of the race. Media and journalists will be in abundance as they look to get the inside from the team’s sportive directors….. i think with Stuart on board we will get the inside scoop before the press!!

After seeing the start of the stage we will make our way to our lunch stop before beginning our ride for the afternoon. On the agenda is Spain’s most famous climb, Lagos de Cavodonga – 12.6 kilometres long at an average gradient of 7.3%

The Asturias town of Oviedo is our final destination for the day where we will check into our hotel and you will have the chance to explore the streets at your leisure – perhaps even a visit to the Mercado de Fontán food market in the centre of town

Today’s Ride: 50km – difficult, including climb to Lagos de Cavodonga

Stage Finish - Gijon

September 8, 2017

Vuelta Stage: Stage 19 – Caso / Gijon 153km

We will enjoy a later breakfast this morning as our ride today takes us 40km north to the finishing town of today’s stage, Gijon.

With a vibrant atmosphere awaiting us, we will make our way by bike from the hotel to Gijon and enjoy some time in the centre of town to get some lunch before we take our place on the finishing straight to see the end of today’s stage. With a downhill finish, if any sprinters have survived the 3 category 3 climbs of the day they will be eager to come across the line first today!

You have the option to ride back to Oviedo after the race or be transferred by van. A free evening again awaits…. we suggest an early night as tomorrow we tackle arguably the most feared climb in professional cycling!

Angrilu

September 9, 2017

Vuelta Stage: Stage 20 – Corvera de Asturias / Alto de l’Angliru 120km

Today marks the queen stage of this year’s Vuelta a Espana. The final summit finish of this year’s race and it will end atop arguably the most feared climb in professional cycling, the Angliru.

We will have our chance earlier in the day to tackle the 12.5 km climb. The average is a tough 10.13%, with the gradient nearing 24% at its steepest. Upon conquering this epic climb we will find a spot on the mountain to see the race come past. We will be armed with a picnic lunch and some drinks, enjoying the atmosphere on the mountain as we wait for the race to pass.

In the evening we will come together as a group to celebrate an exciting week both on and off the bike.

Despedida

September 10, 2017

Today marks the end of our tour. We hope you’ve enjoyed you time on the bike and watching the final week of racing.

We will check out of our hotel after breakfast and transfer you back to Bilbao International airport where our tour will come to an end.
