La Roche-sur-Yon Stage Finish
This morning will be a slower start giving you the opportunity to explore Nantes. Nantes, a city on the Loire River in the Upper Brittany region of western France, has a long history as a port and industrial center. It’s home to the restored, medieval Château des Ducs de Bretagne, where the Dukes of Brittany once lived. The castle is now a local history museum with multimedia exhibits, as well as a walkway atop its fortified ramparts.
We will then set off mid-morning to the finish of today’s stage where you will be able to access the presentation podium for a photo before witnessing the excitement of the final kilometers as the riders sprint past us into the finish in La Roche-Sur-Yon. As part of this experience we will visit the TdF technical zone where you will see inside the organisation and meet with journalists and broadcasters.
After watching the podium presentations we will make our way back to our hotel in Nantes where you can relax before enjoying at on the town at your leisure.
Team Time Trail
This morning after breakfast we will set off through the lush, rolling hills towards Cholet where we will enjoy a road side picnic as the teams battle it out through the narrow, winding roads of the 35km team time trial course.
We will congregate as a group just after the climb in La Godiniere to watch the teams sprinting the final 5km of the course. Make sure you have your camera with you today to capture that perfect TTT photo. Our staff will prepare a roadside picnic lunch for the day to enjoy for the afternoon.
Following the TTT will return to Nantes before we all head out for a group dinner to hear Stuey’s analysis of Stage 3.
Departure Village Stage 4 - La Baule
After an early breakfast we will pack the bikes and drive to the Stage 4 starting town of La Baule, a summer beach resort surrounded by 8km of stunning beaches. We will enjoy a Tour de France history lesson this morning with La Baule being the host of the first ever TdF Departure Village in 1968 before the village was blown away by severe storms, hopefully we do not experience the same fate.
We will enjoy the afternoon sipping champagne, beer and a picnic lunch roadside as we await the peloton to pass.
Take the opportunity for a rest back in Nantes tonight exploring the variety of restaurants and bars within walking distance of our hotel.
Departure Village Stage 5 - Lorient
Our staff will drive the group from Nantes to the Departure Village in Lorient where we will enjoy sampling the local delicacies and perhaps even see some riders grab a coffee and or haircut from the tour barber before they sign on for the day. We will also have access to the paddock where will the see the directors sportifs communicating the days plan in the pre race meetings and riders warming up for the tough day ahead on the road to the story book town of Quimper set on the Odet River. Stuey will be escorting us through today to ensure we get up close and personal with your favourite rider.
After watching the peloton roll off the start we will take the opportunity to drive along the Brittany coastline stopping to explore some stunning beaches, restaurants and the history of Western France. After arriving back to our hotel Stuey will host your farewell dinner, sharing memories from the week.
This morning we invite our guests to enjoy breakfast at the hotel before checking out. Our staff will then assist you with your transfer before saying Bon Voyage! We trust you’ve had a wonderful experience with Mummu Cycling and hope to tour with you again.
