This morning the Mummu Cycling staff will greet you in Geneva and from there we will travel to a team hotel where you will get the opportunity to meet with riders, directors and mechanics from one of Stuey’s former teams. This incredible opportunity is available exclusively to Mummu Cycling guests through our host, Stuart O’Grady’s private network. This truly insider experience you will give you the opportunity to experience the inner sanctum of a professional team as they recover on the first rest day in Annecy.
From the team hotel we will then transfer you to our stunning accommodation in the heart of the Alpes, Hotel Beauregard in La Clusaz where you will check in and get settled while our expert mechanics set you bike up for our easy afternoon ride.
This evening we will dine in the hotel restaurant as a group, giving everyone the chance to get to know each other before our exciting week ahead in the Alps!
Today’s ride: 30km easy ride to stretch the legs
Col de la Colombière
This morning after a big breakfast we will kit up for our ride up Col de la Colombière. This infamous Cat 1 climb will be sure to test the legs for our days ahead in the Alps. Once we have all summited under the expert guidance of, Stuart O’Grady, we continue towards Le Grand-Bornand to take in the excitement of the Stage 10 finish from the spectacular VIP Izoard Hospitailty, enjoying a well-earned glass of champagne and some canapes over looking the finish line as the riders battle it out for victory.
Following the stage finish we will ride a short 6km to our hotel some well-earned rest and relaxation. This evening you are free to enjoy dinner at your leisure in town.
Today’s ride: 65km of mountainous riding including Col de la Colombière (17km at an average of 6.1%)
Today we be a moderate day in the saddle as we experience the excitement of the Ride Depart, riding the stage start just hours before the pros! We will also have Departure Village access and team bus paddock accreditation where you can join Stuart as we chat to riders and staff about the stage the lies ahead. In the Departure Village you’ll be treated to local delicacies from the region and you may even bump into Sagan as he gets his morning coffee!
We’ll then settle in to view the stage from the high mountain pass of Cormet de Roseland, enjoying a gourmet picnic while Stuey shares his horror story from the 2007 TdF – where himself, Mick Rodgers and Robbie McEwen all crashed out of the tour – otherwise known as the blackest day in Australian Tour de France cycling history.
After the races passes we will transfer via luxury van to our new hotel in Grenoble. This evening we will enjoy a group dinner in the hotel where will discuss the coming sages.
Today’s ride: 50km and 1,500m of climbing from Albertville up Cormet de Roseland on the Tour de France route
After an early breakfast and check-out we will drive to the base of the mythical ascent Alpe d’Heuz where will set off on our bikes under the expert guidance of, 17 times Tour de France rider Stuart O’Grady, on this once in a lifetime, bucket-list-climb. This 13.8km stretch of of tarmac slithers its way from Bourg d’Oisans to the ski resort of Alpe d’Huez navigating 21 hairpin bends along the way. It will be an unforgettable experience, heightened by the atmosphere and excitement atop where we will spend the afternoon soaking up the atmosphere as this epic stage unfold before us.
You’ll enjoy much needed refreshments and a gourmet lunch. Once the madness of the peloton, team cars and caravans has passed we will descent the Alpe and continue onto our new luxury hotel in Grenoble.
This evening we will relive this epic experience over a group dinner at a nearby restaurant.
Today’s ride: 60km including the 21 hairpins of Alpe’d’Huez (13.8km at 8.1% average gradient)
Choose to ride or take a well deserved rest day and travel by van to Relais Etape VIP Hospitality, located on the edge of the road for viewing of the caravan and the stage. Relais Etape is the pinnacle of hospitality at Le Tour offering a premium venue within 50km of the Stage finish. Our home for the afternoon serves up a gastronomic 3-course lunch with matching wines, TVs with live stage broadcast, commentators, entertainment and prime roadside viewing as the peloton passes.
After the Stage finish we will drive back to Grenoble to enjoy the variety of restaurants and bars at your leisure.
Today’s ride: 60km valley ride to Relais Etape or take a day off the bike
Ride the Alpes
As the Tour heads West, we will take the opportunity to conquer some iconic climbs in the Alps. From our hotel we will enjoy a day of riding in the spectacular surrounds challenging Les Deux Alpes and if you are up to it Col du Galibier. Let Stuey lead you out, sharing stories of his 20 year career on these exact roads over the manageable climbs of Les Deux Alpes. Our staff will then create a base for you as you tackle as much of Galibier as you like, summiting if you feel up for it.
Boasting our achievements for the day, we will drive home to our hotel and enjoy a farewell dinner as a group, sharing stories, Strava segments and a few wines.
Today’s ride: challenging 60km or 90km mountainous ride up Les Deux Alpes (9.8km at 6.2%) and Col du Galibier (8.5km at 6.9%)
