Bring on Le Tour

This morning our team of Mummu Cycling staff will collect you at Lourdes airport or train station by 11am. We will then transfer to our nearby accommodation.

Enjoy some time to explore the town whilst we set up bikes and prepare for a short, relaxed ride to spin the legs and prepare for a big trip ahead.

On our return we will watch the Stage 11 finish at the hotel before enjoying a group welcome dinner and toast to the best of Le Tour to come!

Bring on Le Tour

July 17, 2019

This morning our team of Mummu Cycling staff will collect you at Lourdes airport or train station by 11am. We will then transfer to our nearby accommodation.

Enjoy some time to explore the town this afternoon then catch up with our riding guests back at our hotel to watch the Stage 11 finish.  Tonight we have a group welcome dinner and toast to meeting new friends and the best of Le Tour to come!

Day 2

Finish Line Experience

July 18, 2019 / Difficulty
/ Distance 40km

Today we will have our first Tour de France experience as we head to the Stage 12 finish in Bagnères-de-Bigorre.  Today’s stage is the start of the Pyrenees climbs for the peloton as they battle over Col de Peyresourde and Hourquette d’Ancizam.

We have an easier ride planned today through green and lush countryside into the finish town where we will meet our spectating guests at a prime roadside location for a classic French picnic.  We will witness the leaders descend into Bagnères-de-Bigorre where we may see a change to the maillot jaune General Classification or maillot à pois rouges the Climbers Polka dot jersey. If you’ve not seen a TDF stage finish before prepare yourself for a world of colour, noise and movement and thousands of fans which combined makes for an experience you’ll cherish for years to come.

With the stage run and won we’ll make the short drive back to our hotel where you can take the evening to enjoy local French brasseries and bars at your leisure.

Day 2

Finish Line Experience

July 18, 2019

After a leisurely breakfast we will have our first Tour de France experience as we head to the Stage 12 finish in Bagnères-de-Bigorre.  Today’s stage is the start of the Pyrenees climbs for the peloton as they battle over Col de Peyresourde and Hourquette d’Ancizam.

We have a short drive through green and lush countryside into the finish town and will meet our riding guests in our prime roadside location for a classic French picnic.  We will witness the leaders descend into Bagnères-de-Bigorre where we may see the change to the GC for the mountains. Stage finishes are a mix of colour, noise, bikes, helicopters, police and loads of fans and make for an experience to be remembered.

Our hotel is only a short drive away and you can take the evening to enjoy local French brasseries and bars at your leisure.

Day 3

Pau Individual Time Trial

/ Distance 60km

Once breakfast is done we will jump on our bikes and head over to Pau for the Stage 13 Individual Time Trial. It is the only individual TT in this year’s TDF and will be critically important for riders with horsepower who need to create a gap on the pure climbers.

On arrival in Pau, we will ride the course ourselves to get a true feel for what’s to come for the pros. Enjoy the atmosphere along the way as excited fans scream and cheer even for us as we roll passed!

Concluding our course reconnaissance, we will gather at our roadside set up for lunch and welcome our spectator guests. Now it’s our turn to add to the cheering fans as we prepare for the Pros to come flying past. Will we be seeing another Dumoulin, Froome, Thomas battle?!

On return – this evening will be at your leisure, we can advise on local restaurants or you can wander and choose what personally appeals.

Pau Individual Time Trial

July 19, 2018

Today, following breakfast we will depart to Pau for the Stage 13 Individual Time Trial.

Its only a short trip so enjoy a more relaxed start before coach transfer to meet the riding group to enjoy watching the Stage roadside. Join the screaming, cheering fans as motorbikes, team cars and finally your favourite riders go flying past Will we be seeing another Dumoulin, Froome, Thomas battle?!

On return – this evening will be at your leisure. Wander the town to choose a restaurant or feet up and eat at the hotel.

Conquer the Col du Tourmalet on Race Day!

July 20, 2019 / Difficulty
/ Distance 45km

Following breakfast we will have an early depart by coach to Capvern where we will begin today’s ride. Direction – Tourmalet!

The truly iconic Tour de France mountain pass travels up to 2115m in elevation and is officially the highest paved climb in the French Pyrenees. The challenging ascent has made a prominent appearance throughout Tour de France history and will no doubt be providing yet another nail-biting, entertaining fight for Stage 12 honours atop.

Our ride distance for today will be 45km, allowing you plenty of time to warm-up ahead of the ascent. It will be a challenge, however well worth the effort as views and atmosphere throughout will be incredible! 

You will be fully supported up the climb and atop we will kick back roadside to enjoy a picnic lunch while anticipating who will conclude the day King of the Tourmalet. Enjoy the sensational Tour de France buzz and get ready to cheer on your favourite riders. 

Following the Stage, we will transfer back to our accommodation in Tarbes where dinner will be at your leisure.

Provence

After a well earned sleep in, we will check out and transfer via luxury coach to our new location in Provence.

En route we will take a stop in Montpellier, a Mediterranean crossroad. This university town only 10km from the Mediterranean coastline is full of stunning restaurants, medieval architecture, art and more. Take the afternoon to explore Montpellier before we continue to Avignon before the stage finale which we will try and catch on TV.

Upon arrival, riders will have an opportunity to stretch their legs with a short 30km loop around town before a group dinner.

Provence

En route we will take a stop in Montpellier, a Mediterranean crossroad. This university town only 10km from the Mediterranean coastline is full of stunning restaurants, medieval architecture, art and more. Take the afternoon to explore Montpellier before we continue to Avignon before the stage finale which we will try and catch on TV.

Upon arrival, take the opportunity to stretch your legs with a walk through Avignon before a group dinner.

Pont du Gard

Transfer to the Alps

We will check out of our hotel before we ride en route to Mont Ventoux, which we’ll be taking on today!

Mont Ventoux literally means ‘Windy Mountain’ and the name speaks for itself. To add – it has been nicknamed by many as ‘The Bald Mountain’ due to its interesting, barren Provencal landscape.

The lengthy climb travels up to 1912m and is widely known throughout the cycling world as being a real physical challenge. Tough, yes but the elation and incredible feeling atop will certainly make It all the more worth it.

Following our efforts, we will transfer to our next hotel destination. This evening we will enjoy a group dinner to reminisce on what has likely been an epic day out.

Transfer to the Alps

July 24, 2018

We will check out of our hotel before we travel via coach to Orange to see the peloton race through. Our riding guests are tackling Mont Ventoux but we will have a more relaxing day exploring the city of Orange and the festivities of the Tour de France passing.

Today is the perfect day to stock up on the Tour Caravan goodies!

Riders will meet us in Orange to transfer via coach to our new home in Aix-les-Bains. This evening we will enjoy a group dinner to reminisce on an epic day out.

Col du Galibier

July 25, 2019 / Difficulty
/ Distance 80km

Get ready for the first of the big Alps stages…and we will be there roadside to witness it live!

After an early breakfast, we will transfer by coach to Le Bourg-d’Oisans where we will saddle up and conquer what Stuart O’Grady calls the hardest climb in the Alps, Col du Galibier. At 2642m altitude this is a monster, and we will ride it on race day. Try and imagine what it is like to be a pro as you ride through the crowds, above the tree line to the moonscape and beyond.

We will settle roadside to watch the pros race through before descending back to our coach for our return to our hotel

Ride the legendary Alpe D’Huez!

Whip your climbing legs out now as today we’ll be tackling the legend that is – Alpe d’huez.

Enjoy a good breakfast and transfer via vehicles to Bourg dÓisans where we will begin today’s ride.

Alpe d’Huez is an incredibly iconic climb, very special to the Tour de France and its history. Most famous for its unique 21 hairpins and sensational views along the way. At 15.2km in length and rising up to 1860m – this climb is no joke!

For any lover of cycling, however it is an absolute MUST-do experience and the thrill + sense of accomplishment atop will make every km of suffering seem that much sweeter.

Non riders will meet us up top via vehicles, where lunch and exploring the mountain village will be at your leisure. 

Or, take the option to descend the gorgeous rolling road off the mountain down the Col de la Sarenne. Stunning and very remote, you’ll be undoubtedly stopping for a snap or two along the way.

Following an epic day out, we will transfer back to our hotel for dinner at your leisure.

Ride the legendary Alpe D’Huez!

Today we have an opportunity to either remain in Aix-les-Bains to explore the stunning Lake du Bourget or join the riders as the ride up the most epic of roads in the French Alps – Alpe d’Huez!

Alpe d’Huez is an incredibly iconic climb, very special to the Tour de France and its history. Most famous for its unique 21 hairpins and sensational views along the way. At 15.2km in length and rising up to 1860m – this climb is no joke!

For any lover of cycling, however it is an absolute MUST-do experience and the thrill + sense of accomplishment atop will make every km of suffering seem that much sweeter.

Expect a nail-biting, chaotic sprint finish and some serious TdF celebrations as the 2019 overall Tour de France winner crosses the line in triumph!
