Welcome & Team Presentation
This morning your Mummu Cycling team will welcome you at Dusseldorf airport and transfer you to our hotel for the next three nights. Once checked into the hotel we will prepare our bikes and head for a short warm up ride to stretch our legs.
In the afternoon/early evening we will take a short transfer into the heart of Dusseldorf to view the official team presentation. This will be our first chance to see the riders and all the excitement that surrounds Le Tour.
We will stay in the city for dinner where we will have dinner as a group to discuss the exciting week ahead!
With the tour not starting until tomorrow, we will take the opportunity to head to the beautiful Rhine Valley, arguably the most famous wine region in Germany.
For those riding, we will head for a ride through the Rhine Valley region before finishing in a beautiful vineyard for some wine tasting and lunch. Non riders will head straight to the vineyard and enjoy a tour of the winery before lunch and wine tastings
We will transfer via van back towards our hotel in the evening, stopping in the regions cultural city of Cologne. Enjoy the evening at your leisure to explore the beautiful Gothic architecture or stop at one of Germany’s famous brew houses.
Le Tour Begins!
Stage one of this years Tour de France begins on the streets of Dusseldorf, where the riders will race against the clock around a city circuit in the opening individual time trial. Local World Champion, Tony Martin will be a favorite to take the first yellow jersey of this years race.
We will have an optional ride first thing in the morning, following the course the pros will tackle on tomorrows second stage. Following this we will take you into the city centre and into the VIP departure village where you can see all the action of the riders warming up, starting and finishing their rides! We will be in Dusseldorf all afternoon soaking up the atmosphere of this years first stage!!
After breakfast this morning we will check out of our hotel and transfer via van south towards our next destination in the Ardennes region of Belgium. We will stop for brunch where we will get on our bikes and follow the final kilometers of today’s Tour de France course into the finishing town of Liege.
A unique experience today as we, just like the pros will cross the official finish line of today’s stage and get our chance for photos on the official Tour podium! Following this we will make our way towards the finish line for a prime location near the finish line to see the end of today stage which is expected to end in a bunch sprint!
After the days stage, we will get in the van for a short transfer to our accommodation, check in and enjoy dinner as a group.
Ride Depart - Verviers
An early breakfast awaits us this morning as following breakfast we will get in the van for a short transfer to Verviers, the depart village for today’s stage. Once there we will get on our bikes and experience what it’s like to start an official Tour de France stage as we will cross the official start line, ride through the neutral zone and past km 0 under closed road conditions!
We will stop on the side of the road for a picnic lunch as we wait for the Tour de France caravan and peloton to pass, an exciting spectacle as we will see how the locals embrace le Tour! Once passed we will continue on our bikes back to the hotel where we can relax and view the final km of today’s stage on television.
This evening we will head to a nearby village where you can enjoy dinner at your leisure.
We will enjoy a sleep in this morning as we let the tour continue south into France. Today we will take the opportunity to ride the famous roads in the Ardennes region, made famous by such classic races including Liege Bastogne Liege and La Fleche Wallone. On our ride to lunch we will climb famous roads including the Cote de la Redoute and Col du Rosier.
We will enjoy some downtime and lunch in the beautiful town of Spa, made famous for its hot springs. You will have plenty of time to explore the town before we make our way back to the hotel.
We will enjoy one final meal as a group this evening, as we reflect on an exciting week!
This morning marks the end of our trip. After breakfast we will check out of our hotel and Mummu staff will transfer you to Brussels airport, only a one and a half hour journey before we say our final goodbyes.
