    About the Giro d’Italia

It’s the opening Grand Tour of the season – nerves are sky high, riders are fresh and form is exceptional. The battle for pink is real and 2019 proved just that, when dark horse, Richard Carapaz stole the show, claiming his first Grand Tour victory in an incredible display of power and form, alongside a strong Movistar contingent. Rounding out the podium, it was local hero and crowd favourite, Vincenzo Nibali, followed by former professional ski jumper, Primoz Roglic.

In general, competition is absolutely at its very best at the Giro and not only due to rider form, but also the highly renowned challenging and unforgiving terrain the race covers year after year – the organisers never showing the slightest bit of empathy when creating the route each edition!
