Day 9

Watch the penultimate ITT Stage from VIP Finish Line Hospitality

May 27, 2023 / Difficulty

After a huge day out yesterday, you can enjoy a nice relaxed start to the day today. Sleep in and enjoy breakfast in your own time.

There will be no ride today, as we will be making our way to the mountainous time trial course of stage 20 to watch the action live in VIP Lounge Hospitality located at a prime point along the course, allowing you to witness the very best of the final Stage in style! Here you will enjoy unlimited canapés and drinks while watching every rider fly right by us within very close distance. Embrace the second to final Stage atmosphere and cheer to your heart’s content!

The 18.6km stage is a time trial of two halves, with 10 kilometres on the slightly descending and very fast Ciclovia Alpe Adria bike path. The climb to Monte Lussari is eight kilometres long and averages 12.1% on a rough-surfaced concrete road very much like the Zoncolan. The middle 4.8km section climbs at 15% with a final kick up to the sanctuary at 22%.

The different terrains will surely see riders opt for a bike change before the climb starts, swapping full time trial bikes for lightweight climbing road bikes so they can dance on the pedals to fight the steep gradient. The riders and teams know that a bad bike change could cost them victory in the Giro d’Italia.

This evening, after the excitement of witnessing the final battle for a chance to change the holder of the Pink Jersey for 2023, there will be a final farewell group dinner. A chance to get together one last time to share stories of the week and cheers to what we hope has been a fantastic trip.
