Brussels Stage Finish

July 6, 2019 / Difficulty
/ Distance 45km

Today is Stage 1 of the 2019 Tour de France and luckily for you the stage starts right outside the front door of our hotel!

We have official ‘Ride Depart’ status today so we will be riding on course, right from the start line, and just before the pros.

Its approx 45kms ride to our viewing point, and roadside picnic, where we catch all the action as the pros hit the very first climb of Le Tour, Mur Du Grammont 1.2km @ 7.8% av. according to Le Tour or 9.2% in Wiki. and with that being just the average % the Mur look forward to some rather steep pinches of up to 19%

Its a cobblestone climb ridden in many famous races including the Tour of Flanders, Gent – Wevelgem and 49 editions of Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. To top it all off there is a beautiful chapel at the top that features in many professional photos of the races.

It will be a day to remember and one that will test your legs and gearing even though the climb is only short. Bring your camera!

Brussels Stage Finish

July 6, 2019

Today is Stage 1 of the 2019 Tour de France and luckily for you today’s stage starts right outside our hotels front door! With our special access on course today we will drive through the official start line and then along the route to our viewing point and roadside picnic location on Mur Du Grammont.

Mur de Grammont has several names with its use in many famous races so its easy to be confused however its a spectacularly beautiful and brutal cobblestone climb. It is relatively short at 1.2kms but with pinches at 19% the pain in the pro’s legs and faces will be evident. There will be great photo opportunities both in the local scenery as there is a beautiful chapel at the top and because of the slower speeds of the riders as they make the climb.

With photos done, and picnic consumed we’ll head back to our hotel about 40km away
