Can I add things to a tour?

We know how much of a pain it can be to lug a bike box through an airport and then find a taxi that it can fit into.
We know how many times it can take repeating yourself to a hotel in Italy to book an additional night.

As part of your tour, we offer bike hire services available at a small cost that is heavily outweighed by convenience.

We also offer additional travel services such as;
Pre and post night accommodation bookings i.e. If you want to arrive earlier or leave later than our tour days (note this may affect transfers)
Ground travel services and bookings (train, coach, bus etc)
Hotel room upgrades

We can also add additional merchandise onto your order.

How do I know if I can handle difficult rides?

We cater to all types of riders at Mummu Cycling. Our tours are graded in difficulty out of 5;

1 Mountain tours – Leisurely rider
2 Mountain tours – Intermediate or weekend rider
3 Mountain tours – Frequent riders used to groups
4 Mountain tours – Confident riders seeking a challenge
5 Mountain tours – Seasoned riders

You don’t have to be an athlete to come on a Mummu Cycling tour – our ride guides are experts in riding with groups and are very accommodating to different rider abilities, so we can get you off the bike at any time if you feel like you need a rest. We encourage that you communicate with your hosts daily so that we can plan for half rides or leapfrogs up hard climbs in the support van etc.

You can ride as much or as little as you like, it is your holiday so if you don’t feel like riding one day you can jump into the spectator van and enjoy the day.

Can I still come even if I don’t ride?

At Mummu Cycling, although some of us are riders all of us are uber cycling fans! We understand the yearning to experience the Tour de France up close and personal and feel what the riders feel as they climb up the mountains. That’s why we put just as much work into designing our spectator itineraries that run back to back with our rides. We pack our spectator itineraries with VIP experiences and hospitality, access passes to some of the most exclusive areas within the villages and team meet and greets. Don’t worry, if you’re a rider you won’t miss out on these things either!

How big are the tour groups typically?

This always depends on the tour but generally a normal tour will have 7-14 people with a mix of riders and spectators. When we get to our larger tours, we can see up to groups of around 25-30 people. The more guests we have, the more staff we allocate to a tour so don’t worry, we ensure we scale our resources so that you always get the same great service on the ground.

How do I know which land arrangement to book?

We have a few different options depending on your travel plans – here is a land
arrangement key;

If you’re travelling alone;

Single – 1 x Double Bed – Travelling alone in your own room (Single Supplement Cost applies)

Twin Share Solo – 1 x Double Bed or 1 x Single Bed (differs per tour) – Travelling alone but sharing a twin room with another guest*

*Please notify us if you would like to bunk with another guest who has book themselves

If you’re travelling as a couple, pair or group;

Double – 1 x Double Bed – Travelling as a couple with a shared bed

Twin Share – 2 x Double Beds or 2 x Single Beds (differs per tour) – Travelling as a pair but sharing a twin room

Triple – 2 or 3 x Beds (configuration differs per tour, per hotel) – Travelling as a group sharing a triple room*

*If you’re travelling as a group of 3 but you all want to book separately, book as Twin Share Solo and notify us of the people that you would like to share a triple room with.

When should I book?

We recommend you book as soon as our tours go on sale because we tend to sell out very quickly. The best way to keep track of when tours are going on sale that you may be interested in is to register your interest on our website.

It can be challenging for us to release the full details of a tour sometimes because often we have to wait for route announcements. If at any point in time a tour isn’t on sale, we can always take a pre-tour registration deposit which will secure you a spot on the tour even before it is on the website. Please contact us if you need more information about this process.

What should I bring?

We recommend you pack clothing and travel essentials that you would take on any holiday plus a few bits of extra riding gear depending on the requirements.

Get in touch if you have questions about this as we can give you expert advice based on the tour you’ll be coming on as requirements differ depending on weather etc.

If you’re hiring a bike from us, be sure to bring your own pedals, helmet and lights.

If you’re bringing your own bike, make sure it has been serviced prior to departure and ensure you bring a saddle bag with tools.

What if my merchandise included in the tour price doesn’t fit?

2 words – No Problem! Just let us know and we can organise a pre-departure swap or a swap on the ground. If you’re located in Melbourne, come to our head office and you can try on anything you like.

What if I want my own room?

Each spot on tour is sold as twin share, meaning you buy half a twin room and
bunk with another guest.

A single supplement is an additional cost for a single room. Each tour has the option to add a single supplement to your order, meaning you would have your own room the entire trip. If you are travelling solo and you would like your own space after those long rides, just ensure you click single supplement at check out or let our sales representatives know you’d prefer to be in a single room and we can make the arrangements.
